RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Chair of the Department of Construction Management serves as its administrator. The Chair is responsible for leadership in supporting and advancing teaching, research, and service activities of the department faculty and for managing the departmental needs, including resources, budgets and personnel. The Chair reports directly to the Dean of the College of Technology and Computer Science and is the primary liaison between the department and the college. This is a 12-month position, open July 1, 2010.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires an earned doctorate from an appropriately accredited institution in construction management or a related discipline. Must have a record of scholarship and teaching effectiveness that merits a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Requires demonstrated success in academic administrative processes, including team-building and effective interaction with faculty, administrators, students, and the community. Prefer experience in budget management, assessment and accreditation practices, establishing relationships with industry partners, and developing a research infrastructure.

The College of Technology and Computer Science is home to four departments: Construction Management, Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology Systems. The College maintains excellent laboratory facilities for instruction and research. There are many opportunities for interdisciplinary research collaborations.

The Department of Construction Management is comprised of 15 faculty serving approximately 650 undergraduate majors and 20 graduate majors. Faculty and students are very engaged with the professional community and the programs are supported by a strong industry advisory council. The Department’s vision is central to the University’s Strategic Directions, particularly in terms of creating a strong, sustainable economic future for the region. The undergraduate program is developing concentrations in residential, infrastructure, and commercial construction.
