Department Description: The Department of Construction Management is a very collegial and supportive group that serves the largest construction management program in the country with approximately 1,000 undergraduate majors and 65 graduate students. The undergraduate program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. Community: Colorado State University is located in Fort Collins, which is a community of approximately 130,000 located 65 miles north of Denver and 45 miles south of Cheyenne, WY. Positions: One tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor position
Appointment: Nine-month appointment with a starting date of August 2010
Responsibilities: Assistant/Associate Professor:
Teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses for students preparing for a career in the construction industry or related careers; conduct independent and collaborative research; aggressively seek extramural funding; direct student research; participate in graduate student advisement; and perform relevant University and professional service.
Associate Professor:
The associate professor is expected to serve as the Director of the Construction Management Applied Research Center (CMARC) and therefore should demonstrate an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, and a strong interest in an interdisciplinary approach to the advancement of construction education and research. The goal of CMARC is to create a culture of applied research with a global perspective that benefits our industry and our society. The candidate will lead the department faculty and industry advisory board in developing and sustaining a research agenda. The candidate will be expected to maintain an active and highly visible research program while providing leadership as the Director of CMARC.
Expectations: The successful assistant professor candidate is expected to develop a nationally recognized funded research program and integrate their research into current and new academic courses. The successful associate professor candidate is expected to maintain/grow their scholarly activities and integrate their research into current and new academic courses. Required Qualifications: Assistant Professor:
· An earned Doctorate, JD or ABD* in a construction related field
· Evidence of or verified potential for establishing a publication record, external grant procurement, and University-level teaching
*At time of hire, arrangements will be made to complete the Ph.D. within a specified time period.
Associate Professor:
· An earned Doctorate in a construction-related field
· Evidence of a scholarly publication record, external grant procurement and University-level teaching at the associate professor level
· Demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of five years of construction experience is preferred. A research agenda in one or more of the following high priority research areas is preferred:
· International Project Management
· Sustainable Construction
· Residential Development and Construction
· Preconstruction
· Building Information Modeling
· Simulation and Visualization
· Historic Preservation
· Heavy/Civil Construction

Salary and Rank: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Rank and tenure status will be determined based upon credentials at appointment.
