Construction Management – Two Positions  

 

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

APPOINTMENT: The position of Construction Management faculty member will begin August, 2010.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Doctorate degree from an accredited university is required for a tenure track appointment. A Master’s degree in a related field is the minimum requirement for a non-tenure track appointment. Relevant professional construction management work experience, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills; demonstrated capabilities in teaching and research.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated management experience in the U.S. construction industry; the potential for distinguished teaching, research/scholarship, and service is required; experience with ACCE accreditation; commitment to applying technology to teaching and learning; experience in curriculum development; and a record of involvement in professional societies and community relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Position 1: Teach classes in three or more of the following areas: Surveying, Construction Law and Safety, Construction Management, Construction Scheduling, Construction Accounting and Finance, and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP). Collaborate and share responsibilities with other faculty; including maintenance of laboratory equipment and software; serve on department, college, and university committees; and maintain office hours in accordance with the negotiated contract.

Position 2: Teach classes in three or more of the following areas: Construction Concepts and Materials, Construction Processes, Design Theory (Structural Mechanics, Electricity, Thermodynamics or Soil Mechanics) and Construction Management. Collaborate and share responsibilities with other faculty; including maintenance of laboratory equipment and software; serve on department, college, and university committees; and maintain office hours in accordance with the negotiated contract.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Engineering Technology Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Graphic Communications, and a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Systems. The department currently has 12 full-time tenure-track faculty and ten associate faculty. The Engineering Technology Department has an enduring reputation for excellent teaching, and for exemplary research and service. For more information go to the Department website at www.wiu.edu/engrtech
