Assistant Professor (Tenure Track Faculty)

The Department of Construction Management at Colorado State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Assistant Professor (tenure-track) faculty position beginning August 2026.

Position Summary/Responsibilities:   50% Teaching, 40% Research, 10 % Service

Teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses that prepare students to pursue a career in the construction or related industry; advise graduate students, work with student organizations and/or mentor student competition teams, develop and maintain an independent and nationally recognized research program that is supported by external funding, integrate relative research expertise into current and new academic courses, direct student research, and participate in service activity in support of the industry, university, and the department.

The Department seeks a new Tenure-Track Faculty member that will add to our existing teaching and research expertise that complements the current construction management undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • An earned Doctorate in construction-related field at the time of starting the tenure-track faculty appointment (August 16, 2026).
  • Potential to successfully teach university-level courses
  • Potential to successfully publish in academic proceedings and journals
  • Potential to establish an externally funded research program

 

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Evidence of successful university-level teaching
  • Evidence of a publication record in academic proceedings and journals
  • Evidence of an externally funded research program
  • A minimum of three or more years of progressive, full-time, experience in the Architecture, Engineering and/or Construction (AEC) industry.
  • Evidence of research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • 3D printed structures; Automation and robotics in construction
    • Artificial Intelligence in construction
    • Data collection technologies (instrumentation, sensors, cyber-physical systems)
    • Virtual design and construction (may include digital twins, extended reality)
    • Modular and offsite construction
  • The ability to teach in one or more of the following content areas:
    • Graphics Communications in Construction
    • Construction Estimating
    • Construction Equipment and Methods
    • Structural Systems in Construction
    • Construction Contracts and Project Administration 

 

In addition to the above courses, candidates should consider and identify in their application what other courses in the construction management curriculum at Colorado State University that they are capable of teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate level as well as what additional courses they can develop and introduce to the curriculum as electives.
