Job Summary/Basic Function
The School of Concrete and Construction Management at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.

Reporting to the School’s director, the successful candidate will engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and service. 

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Teaching: Create and teach various construction management and construction materials courses such as Construction Materials, Cost Estimating, Quantity Estimating, Soils and Foundations, and Construction Structures.
Mentorship: Engage in academic mentoring for graduate and undergraduate students.
Research: Establish and sustain an externally funded research program complementing the current research efforts of the School of Concrete and Construction Management.
Publication: Generate a scholarly publication record.
Accreditation: Assist in program assessment, accreditation, and execution of the School’s continuous improvement plan.
Service: Participate in technical committees, professional activities, and organizations.
Collaboration: Communicate well, collaborate effectively, and contribute positively to the School’s mission.
Required Education
A terminal degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or construction management is required by the appointment date.

Other Desirables
Applicants with the following will receive special consideration:

Experience in construction management/engineering and construction (cementitious) materials.
Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and producing research/creative activities.
Teaching experience at a higher education institution.
Instructional expertise that complements existing faculty.
A record of publication in leading technical journals.
Ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary research.
Professional industry experience in a related field.
Experience with machine learning/AI, advanced sensing technologies, or innovative materials.
