The Nieri Department of Construction and Real Estate Development (NCRED) in the College of Architecture, Art and Construction (CAAC) at Clemson University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with the anticipated start date of August 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will:

·         Develop and sustain a rigorous, externally funded research program in areas that support and advance the mission of the department and the broader built environment. Preferred research areas include, but are not limited to:

o   Structural systems and design integration

o   Materials science and building material technologies

o   3D printing and additive manufacturing in construction

o   Virtual and augmented reality applications for construction

o   Emerging construction technologies

·         Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Construction Science and Management (CSM) curriculum

·         Contribute to department, college, university, and external service activities

·         Engage with industry and professional communities to support outreach and collaboration.

About NCRED

Originally established in 1962 as Clemson University’s Construction Science and Management program, the recently named Nieri Department of Construction and Real Estate Development (NCRED) at Clemson University is housed within the College of Architecture, Art and Construction and offers a comprehensive suite of degree programs that bridge theory, research, and professional practice in the built environment. Since its inception, the department has contributed to shaping the construction profession, playing pivotal roles in the formation of the Associated Schools of Construction, and the American Council for Construction Education.

The department is home to 14 full-time faculty, 4 support staff, and several part-time faculty. Enrollment continues to show steady growth with nearly 300 undergraduate, and 100 graduate students across its undergraduate and graduate programs in Construction Science and Management (accredited by the American Council for Construction Education), a Master of Real Estate Development (MRED), and a Ph.D. in Construction Science and Management. Its programs emphasize experiential learning through initiatives such as the Experiential Learning (XL) Yard, internships, practicums, and strong partnerships with more than 100 industry organizations.

Qualifications

·         A Ph.D. in Construction Science and Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline (completed by August 15, 2026)

·         Evidence of the potential to develop a strong research agenda with peer-reviewed publications and future funding

·         Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the core Construction Management curriculum

·         Commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentoring, and service

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         Demonstrated experience or research in one or more of the department’s priority areas: analysis and design of structural systems, materials science, 3D printing, VR/AR, and building materials

·         Prior teaching experience at the university level

·         Industry experience in construction or related fields
