Construction Management – Assistant Professor – Central Washington University
The Department of Engineering Technologies, Safety and Construction (ETSC) of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, is seeking applicants for one tenure-track position in Construction Management at the Assistant Professor level.

Position Summary:

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities for this position include teaching courses in general building and/or heavy civil construction management areas. The successful candidates will also be responsible for building strong relationships with industry partners to ensure ongoing success or the Construction Management Program. Faculty are also expected to: 1) advise students, hold regular office hours, engage in student-related activities, such as supervising student projects, advising student clubs, coaching teams for student competitions, etc., actively participate in program assessment and evaluation to maintain accreditation; 2) engage in scholarly activities; and 3) participate in university, college, departmental and professional service.

The successful candidate must be dedicated to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.  Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Overview:

The Department of Engineering Technologies, Safety and Construction (ETSC) of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, is seeking applicants for one tenure-track position in Construction Management at the Assistant Professor level. The Construction Management Program averages about 160 students with approximately 36 students graduating each year. Smaller class size, with a focus on “hands on labs” allows individual attention and a unique exposure to all aspects of construction. The program is fully accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) and is a member of the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC), Region 7.

 

The ETSC Department offers Bachelor of Science degree programs in Construction Management, Electronic Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Technology Education, Mechanical Engineering Technology, and Safety and Health Management. The Department envisions itself as providing an educational service with customers at both ends of the system:  students seeking an education leading toward employment and industry desiring employees to lead them into the future. Required Qualifications:

• Masters degree in construction, engineering, business or construction-related field;
• Construction management experience working within the construction industry;
• Familiarity with United States construction practices;
• Teaching, research, service or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU’s commitment to the engagement and inclusion of culturally diverse students.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in construction, engineering or related discipline;
• Professional academic experience;
• Experience with an engineering/construction academic accreditation process (i.e. – ABET, ACCE, etc.);
• Professional credentials (P.E. LEED, CPC, DBIA, CMAA, etc.);
• Demonstrated participation in programs designed to promote inclusion;
• Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds;
• Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into curriculum and classroom conversations;
• Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations.
• Demonstrated training in and/or experience implementing anti-racism, diversity, and inclusion-related materials or pedagogical practices in credit-bearing courses, certificate programs, or professional development type trainings, workshops or seminars.
