The Haskell & Irene Lemon Construction Science (CNS) Division at the University of Oklahoma’s (OU) Gibbs College of Architecture (GCA) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor OR tenured or tenure-track associate professor, 9-month position, beginning in August 2026. There is the potential for a January 2026 start for candidates who may be interested. Based in Norman, a lively college town within the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, which was recently ranked the “No. 1 Best Big City to Live In” by U.S. News & World Report, the Construction Science Division seeks faculty to help shape the future of construction education and practice. This position is part of OU’s university-wide trajectory to join the nation’s top public research institutions, fueled by growth in faculty excellence, research innovation, and cross-sector partnerships.

The Division seeks to hire a new faculty member to add to our award-winning team and support our growing enrollments. The new faculty member will advance teaching and research excellence in areas such as transportation (heavy civil construction), construction leadership, and/or construction innovation. Established in 1983, the CNS Division boasts a significant endowment that supports strong leadership, a cadre of passionate and impactful faculty, and a pattern of student success in regional, national, and international competitions. The GCA’s history in helping develop the design+build movement continues today through the program’s balanced approach towards entrepreneurship and hands-on collaborations. The CNS undergraduate program has been accredited by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) since 1990. The Christopher C. Gibbs College of Architecture brings together more than 1,100 students across seven disciplines: Architecture, Construction Science, Environmental Design, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture, Regional and City Planning, and Urban Design. The College serves as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration and public impact, hosting the national Placemaking Conference and supporting community partnerships across Oklahoma.
