ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:

The Construction Management program at Colorado Mesa University currently has an open tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor of Construction Management.  The position is scheduled to begin August 2024.

The ideal candidate will:

Enjoy teaching a diverse undergraduate student population.  Our preferred course delivery is usually less than 25 students in-person modality, with a standard teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester.  Courses may be larger or hybrid.  

Engage undergraduates in research and/or projects.  We expect that you will engage in scholarly activity, which may include pedagogical and applied work, and prefer that you engage students in the process.

Support the department and community through service.  Typical service commitments are course scheduling, hiring committees, mentoring student clubs, campus committee work and other service related to the profession and the wider community.

Advise students in our program.  Students will seek advice on courses and changes of majors, etc.  Guiding students through their academic careers is an important aspect of successful faculty at Colorado Mesa University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Teach 12 hours of credits each semester in three or more of the following areas of specialization:

Statistics and Strength of Materials

Soil and Foundation Systems

Sustainability

Building Materials and Methods

MEP Systems

Estimating (Vertical, Horizontal)

Project Management

Planning and Scheduling

Financial and Company Management

 

Advise students in their academic progress, student club organization and participation in the Associated Schools of Construction (ASC).

 

Serve on program, department, and university committees. Participate on Industry Advisory Committee. Network, develop and maintain industry relationships to facilitate student internships, employment opportunities and industry support.

 

Required Qualifications: 

Master’s degree in construction management or related discipline.

Three years of construction industry experience

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Ph.D. in Construction Management or related discipline.

Experience teaching undergraduate-level construction management courses.

Previous research experience

Five years of construction industry experience

Experience using some software applications like: Bluebeam Revu, On-screen Takeoff, SketchUp, Revit, MS Project, P6, Navisworks, Procore, SiteworxOS
