The School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE), one of the eight Fulton Schools, houses a vibrant construction management and technology and construction engineering research and teaching community, comprising a group of faculty members who are leaders in all aspects of construction. The candidate will primarily fulfill teaching responsibilities in the area of Heavy/Civil Construction.  The position is aimed at advancing the construction management and engineering programs with an explicit goal of enhancing the reputation, stature, and student enrollment in the area of heavy civil/construction.

As part of fulfilling instructional duties, the selected candidate will have the opportunity and is expected to be involved in:

  • Teaching heavy/civil construction and closely related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels both in-person and online
  • Developing new courses and curricula, and improving existing courses, with an emphasis on heavy civil/construction
  • Advising student organizations and mentoring student competition teams

As part of its New American University imperatives, ASU seeks candidates whose professional experience and knowledge align with addressing critical infrastructure challenges, with a focus on sustainability and resilience. We seek applicants who will contribute to our academic programs, promote transdisciplinary educational endeavors, and help the university to achieve its aspirations, including enabling student success, transforming society, valuing entrepreneurship and conducting use-inspired professional activities. Career track faculty members in the Fulton Schools are expected to develop and implement effective pedagogical practices for the delivery of in-person and online graduate and undergraduate courses, advise both undergraduate and graduate student projects and undertake service activities (e.g., advising student organizations and mentoring student competition teams). Professional engineering licensure or the ability to obtain registration in a timely manner is desirable.

Successful candidates will support the mission of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering and are expected to advance instructional endeavors both within and beyond the Fulton Schools. The selected candidate will be associated with the Del E. Webb School of Construction within the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment (SSEBE). SSEBE offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Civil, Environmental, Sustainable, and Construction Engineering, and in Construction Management and Technology.  SSEBE has 60 faculty members, 1450 undergraduate and 750 graduate students, and generates annual research expenditures of nearly $30 million per year.

Appointment will be made at the rank of Professor of Practice, Associate Teaching Professor, or Assistant Teaching Professor commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
