80% Teaching + 20% Service = 100% FTE

THE OPPORTUNITY:
The School of Design + Construction (SDC) at Washington State University invites applications for a full-time, continuous career track (non-tenure track) faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We seek candidates who are student-centered, collaborative, possess relevant industry experience, and are technologically and professionally competent.
The School of Design and Construction (SDC) provides a vital academic and research culture where students and faculty engage in complex social, environmental and technological questions of our time. We seek forward-thinking candidates with the vision, passion, and expertise to advance the field and inspire future leaders. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses central to the construction management core curriculum. For tenure-track position, the candidate will also be expected to conduct research that supports construction education and/or the construction industry and if possible in one or more key research areas within the SDC. The curriculum is a four-year professional program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management. Upon completion of prerequisite courses, pre-professional students must apply after their first year to be admitted into the program and complete the final three years. The Construction Management program has a robust in-house student internship and full-time recruiting program, active industry partners, and an engaged advisory board. Additionally, many non-CM students enrolled in our CM Minor program that consists of students from many disciplines including Business, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, and Civil Engineering. Fall 2016 marked the official start of the Construction Engineering Bachelor’s degree which is a collaboration between Construction Management and Civil Engineering – an integrated degree offering.
The SDC is comprised of accredited academic degree programs in Construction Management (B.S. ACCE + CM minor), Architecture (B.S + M.Arch NAAB), Interior Design (B.A. CIDA + M.A. Research), Landscape Architecture (BLA LAAB), Construction Engineering with the Department of Civil Engineering (B.S. ABET), and emerging certificate programs and a Master of Science in Building Science with Departments in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The SDC is committed to being the premier destination for integrated design and construction education in the nation. The collaborative make-up of the SDC enables faculty to work with students from different disciplines in an integrated environment with the goal of promoting and increasing effectiveness within the professions. LINE OF RESPONSIBILITY: This position reports administratively to the School of Design and Construction Director.
MAJOR PROGRAM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties for this position are to teach courses central to the core construction management curriculum in the Construction Management (B.S.) program of the School of Design + Construction. Courses include, but are not limited to, materials and methods, project management/project delivery, construction cost accounting, construction law, estimating, and scheduling. If tenure-track, the position will include conducting research, scholarship and outreach related to contemporary issues in the built environment.

Career track Assistant Professor position: $80,000 – $90,000
Career track Associate Professor position: $85,000 – $98,000
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
