Program Director of Construction Management

This position promotes and supports the learning experience of Marian University students by, overseeing the curriculum, strategic planning, and assisting with marketing strategies for the program.  Including possibly teaching courses in the program as needed and qualified.

Marian University invites applicants for the position of Program Director of Construction Management, starting when filled. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to the construction field, community, undergraduate education, student engagement, and service to the university and community. Marian University is an institution that values innovative teaching, advising, and mentoring. All faculty participate in advising and mentoring, with other related duties as assigned.

Candidates should exhibit skill and enthusiasm in teaching undergraduates, hiring and supporting highly qualified adjunct instructors, creating quality relationships with construction and manufacturing employees, and creating an environment of high expectants, safety and success.  The candidate should also help developing innovative experiential learning opportunities in the surrounding community, and in a willingness to participate in all phases of program, department, and university activities; including recruitment of students.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the continued management and growth of the Construction Management Program.
  • This position will be divided between teaching and administrative responsibilities which will carry up to 6 credits per semester (12 credits annually). Course(s) that may be taught in the Business programs, in on-campus modes, following the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accreditation standards within the Construction Management program, include Introduction to Construction Management, Building Codes, OSHA Safety & Risk Management, Construction Planning, Cost Estimating, and Contracts, etc.
  • Engage in professional or academic activities in campus-based, local, regional or broader communities in an effort to make a positive impact and advance the recognition and reputation of Marian University.
  • Actively engage in developing and maintaining relationships in the construction-management community to enhance internship and placement opportunities for Marian University students.
  • Actively participate in on-campus and off-campus professional development activities to build collaborations between Marian University faculty and external partners.
  • Be actively involved in student advising and mentoring, assessment and assurance of learning, curriculum design and revision, as well as committee service at all levels of the institution.
  • Establish, develop, and maintain positive relationships in the Construction Management industry, to promote internships, and the hiring of Marian University graduates within the industry.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to work with diverse populations.
  • Strictly honor the privacy, security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to state, federal, and college regulations, policies and procedures.
     

Required Education, Experience, and Skills: 

  • Master’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Education or related field of study
  • Must be able to demonstrate the potential to engage in professional activity that supports the teaching mission of the institution.
  • Willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of Marian University.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Knowledge of ACCE accreditation standards.
  • Experience with accreditation process and procedures.
  • In addition to the construction-management background, experience in any of the following areas: management, leadership, business, finance, accounting, or technology.
  • Experience in online teaching.

Salary Range: $80,000 – $95,000
